Necessities:
1. A Phillips screwdriver
2. A Pair of Pliers
3. A new Philips Lamp
4. 15 minutes of your time
NOTE: The bulb should be handled with a clean lint-free cloth at all times to avoid any dirt or oil. Our hands are naturally oily…The oil residue from our hands can cause premature failure of the lamp if the front side of the lamp is not wiped down after the installation. It doesn’t hurt to do a final wipe with a clean, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth before reinstalling your lamp…

This guide is for the Sony XL-2200. Make sure you've got the right lamp. |
You'll need the tools mentioned above. |
Examine the enclosure. |
Identify the screws holding the metal housing in place. We'll get that off first. |
Use the Philips screw drive to remove the top metal and plastic piece. |
Pull the two pieces apart. |
You'll see the wires are still attached to the connection and the terminals. |
You'll need the pliars and screwdrive now. |
Use your pliars to remove the nut from one of the terminals on the lamp. |
When reversing instructions, hand tighten--DO NOT over tighten the screws. |
You can now dismount the lamp from the bottom half of the enclosure with a screw driver. |
Handle the lamp with caution! |
To remove the lamp, unscrew the brackets at the corners of the lamp. |
There should be 4 in all. |
Pull the lamp out. |
Keep all your screws and pieces handy--we're going to reuse them. |
Here's a side by side of the old lamp and the new lamp. |
Reverse instructions and put the new lamp in. Try not to get them confused, or you will have to start over ;) |
Hand tighten only. Don't over torque the screws. |
Hand tighten the nut. |
Excessive torque can break the terminal, so be careful. |
Put the plastic/metal case and the front piece back together. |
Screw the cases tight. |
Make sure you don't have any lose screws. |
You're done! |
IMPORTANT: The bulb should be handled with a clean cloth at all times to avoid any dirt or oil. Our hands are naturally oily…this is a no-no for these lamps. It doesn’t hurt to do a final wipe with a clean, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth before reinstalling your lamp…
