NORMAL DISCLAIMER:
— Do NOT purchase generic brand lamps such as LTI, APO or third-party manufacturers such as OSRAM.
These lamps were NOT engineered with and for your TV…only your Philips lamp has been engineered to work flawlessly and output the best possible color. Above that, it just doesn’t make sense to choose an aftermarket lamp for a $5-$10 difference (and in many cases they are more expensive!!). Be a smart consumer and do your research! Discount-Merchant.com promises to be the low price leader in all Projection TV Lamps they carry…if this is not true, let us know and we’ll fix it!
Tools Required: Standard Philips & Flathead screwdriver, Pair of Pliers, A new lamp.
Time Required: About 15 minutes.
Abstract: This guide is being published to show how easy it is to replace your original Sony XL-100 Lamp.
NOTE: The bulb should be handled with a clean lint-free cloth at all times to avoid any dirt or oil. Our hands are naturally oily…The oil residue from our hands can cause premature failure of the lamp if the front side of the lamp is not wiped down after the installation. It doesn’t hurt to do a final wipe with a clean, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth before reinstalling your lamp…

1.-Let’s start by removing the screws on the bottom of the enclosure.
. |
2.-Now place it on its side to find the power connector, and just below it you’ll find two small securing clips.
3.-To remove the metal cage you’ll have to insert a Flathead screwdriver between it and the plastic enclosure.
4.-Now, gently pull the metal cage out and tug it, just a bit until its sets free. |
5.-In the inter lamp, two plastic covered cables attached to the bulb by a nut and a screw, remove them.
6.-There is a metal wire holding the lamp in place, and it has a small plastic hook as a safety, be careful and pull it back.
7.-After the wire has been completely pulled back the bulb will be free.
8.-The enclosure without the bulb will look something like this.
9.-Ready your new Philips brand lamp that should look like this. |
10.-Place it in the same way you removed the old one. |
A.-After inserting the bulb, pull over the wire to connect the two plastic cables to the lamp.
B.-Use your screw driver and pliers to secure the cables. |
C.-Remember that the wire goes into the hook on the back.
D.-Grab your metal cage and insert it back on to the enclosure
E.-Remember to make sure that the two metal safety’s snap, that will mean that the cage is secure to the enclosure.
F.-Insert back the screw on the side of the lamp and make sure that the metal cage doesn’t move.
G.-And finally you’re finished.
IMPORTANT: After installing the replacement bulb, you should wipe it with a clean cloth to avoid any dirt or oil. Our hands are naturally oily…this could reduce considerably the life span of the new lamp.
