NORMAL DISCLAIMER:
— Do NOT purchase generic brand lamps such as LTI, APO or third-party manufacturers such as OSRAM. These lamps were NOT engineered with and for your TV…only your Philips lamp has been engineered to work flawlessly and output the best possible color. Above that, it just doesn’t make sense to choose an aftermarket lamp for a $5-$10 difference (and in many cases they are more expensive!!). Be a smart consumer and do your research! Discount-Merchant.com promises to be the low price leader in all Projection TV Lamps they carry…if this is not true, let us know and we’ll fix it!
Necessities:
1. A Phillips screwdriver
2. A Pair of Pliers
3. A new Philips Lamp
4. 15 minutes of your time
NOTE: The bulb should be handled with a clean lint-free cloth at all times to avoid any dirt or oil. Our hands are naturally oily…The oil residue from our hands can cause premature failure of the lamp if the front side of the lamp is not wiped down after the installation. It doesn’t hurt to do a final wipe with a clean, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth before reinstalling your lamp…
Samsung made two different enclosures for the BP96-00608A. One enclosure houses the big E23 type lamp, while the other (which is a rare type), uses a smal E22 type lamp. The lamp is small and better than the E23 because it is vented. In fact, all of the new Samsungs use this type of lamp now. For a guide on the normal BP96-00608A enclosure, click here.

Check the lampcode of your Samsung DLP TV. |
Examine the enclosure. |
You'll need a few simple tools as indicated above. |
Identify the screws holding the metal housing in place. |
First we remove the screws on the metal housing. |
Be sure to keep the screws in a safe place. You'll need them later. |
Pull off the metal part of the housing. |
Note the two wires connected to the lamp. |
We'll remove the top wire first using a pair of pliars. |
After removing the nut, pull off the wire and keep the screws in a safe place. |
Take off the second wire using your screw driver. |
We'll need to take the clamps off the lamp. |
Detach them using a screw driver as well. |
You're ready to pull the lamp out. |
Hold it by the end of the lamp on the back side. It's the safest spot to touch the lamp. |
Note all the parts of this lamp and enclosure. |
Insert the new lamp and reverse the previous directions. |
Reattach the craddle to the housing. |
We now re-connect the lamp terminals to the connector wire after the lamp is secure... |
NOTE: Be careful when screwing-in the side connector on to your new lamp. |
It’s best to hand torque as this terminal is very sensitive and might break with a lot of torque. |
Put the cover back on and screw the metal cover in place. |
You're done! |
Put the lamp enclosure back into the television... |
Then reconnect the ballast wires to the lamp. |
IMPORTANT: The bulb should be handled with a clean cloth at all times to avoid any dirt or oil. Our hands are naturally oily…this is a no-no for these lamps. It doesn’t hurt to do a final wipe with a clean, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth before reinstalling your lamp…
