NORMAL DISCLAIMER:
— Do NOT purchase generic brand lamps such as LTI, APO or third-party manufacturers such as OSRAM.
These lamps were NOT engineered with and for your TV…only your Philips lamp has been engineered to work flawlessly and output the best possible color. Above that, it just doesn’t make sense to choose an aftermarket lamp for a $5-$10 difference (and in many cases they are more expensive!!). Be a smart consumer and do your research! Discount-Merchant.com promises to be the low price leader in all Projection TV Lamps they carry…if this is not true, let us know and we’ll fix it!
Tools Required: Standard Philips or Flathead screwdrivers, Pair of Pliers, A new lamp.
Time Required: About 15 minutes
Abstract: This guide is being published to show how easy it is to replace your original Hitachi Lamp UX21518.
NOTE: We recommend you to use latex gloves when handling the new bulb, to avoid any dirt or oil. Our hands are naturally oily…The oil residue from our hands can cause premature failure of the lamp if the front side of the lamp is not wiped down after the installation. It doesn’t hurt to do a final wipe with a clean, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth before reinstalling your lamp…

1.-Hitachi DLP Lamp UX21517 |
2.-Let's start by removing the metal case by unscrewing it from the plastic housing. |
3.-Gently pull on the metal part and separate it apart from the rest of the casing.. |
4.-With your Philips driver start removing the screws holding the cables to the plastic casing. |
5.-Next remove the ones holding the metal ring around the bulb. |
6.-Also take out the screws that hold a small metal plate, this will divide the housing in two. |
7.-Take them both apart until you’re left with the one with the lamp. |
8.-Take out the metal ring and separate the bulb and plastic base from each other. |
9.-On the plastic base, take out the two small plastic pieces; you won’t need them anymore. |
10.-Let's remove the cable on the side that’s connected to the lamp along with the one on the top. |
11.-Insert the new lamp back in the same way it came out. |
12.-Reinstall cautiously the screw and nut that connects the short and long cables. |
13.-Take the metal ring and place it back on top of the lamp, and place both on the plastic base. |
14.-Secure metal ring with both screws, one on each side, make sure it doesn’t move. |
15.-Now connect the two plastic pieces to form the casing of the lamp. |
16.-Place the screws over the small metal plate tightly so it doesn’t fall apart. |
17.-Install the final screws that secure the plastic covered cables to the housings terminals. |
18.- Put the metal cage back on, make sure it stays in place. |
19.-Place the screw back on the metal cage so it doesn’t wiggle. |
20.-Finally this is what it looks like when you’re finished. |
IMPORTANT: After installing the replacement bulb, you should wipe it with a clean cloth to avoid any dirt or oil. Our hands are naturally oily…this could reduce considerably the life span of the new lamp.
